Yes, Vampire Princess Miyu and Jigoku Shoujo do have quite a number of differences (yeah - Ai wins the popularity contest with seventy-eight episodes versus Miyu's thirty!), but one would be hard-pressed to say beyond a doubt that the Jigoku Shoujo creators and writers weren't at least, in part, inspired by the former.
